To the State Boards regulating Speech Pathology and Audiology, It is my privilege to serve as the NCSB Conference Chair for 2022. We have an exciting program planned for our 35th annual event and are extending an invitation hoping that your Board will consider registering to attend our conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico, October 13-15 ,2022. Whether your board is a current NCSB member, past-member or has never been a member, this is a good year to come together and share how to move forward in regulating the fields of Speech Pathology and Audiology. Our conference theme, Good Governance: Inclusion and Collaboration in the Regulation of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology encompasses lessons learned during the pandemic and reflects current issues and practices. The first day of the meeting is an (optional) pre-conference training for new board members that spans many topics of regulation across states. This is a deeper dive than most boards offer in their “on-boarding” process. The training has been developed by individuals representing different roles on boards (e.g., public members, board attorney or administrator as well as communication professionals) and represents many years of experience incorporating their transitions, legal discussions, and real-life scenarios. The main conference will include the topic of Over the Counter (OTC) hearing aids which we anticipate will impact state regulatory bodies. Other sessions address Health Professionals Data Base reporting, inter- professional collaboration, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in regulation and consumer protection, credentialing updates and the Audiology Speech Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC). Further, the conference features a “State Information Exchange” in which attending states report on related developments and emerging trends. This is a venue for discussion, sharing, support and information relevant to all board members, regardless of their role. If you are not currently a member state, please join at https://ncsb.info/membership. One benefit is reduced conference registration. Conference details including information on exhibiting and sponsorship opportunities can be found at https://ncsb.info/event-4757936. Feel free to contact the NCSB Business Office at info@ncsb.info with any questions. We hope to see you in Santa Fe! | Dear NCSB Members: We hope you enjoyed the recent issue of the NCSB “Licensure” Newsletter. As always, feel free to contact any member of the Board of Directors with questions or concerns. Amy Goldman |
