Learner Outcomes

Thursday Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to:

  1. Delineate key components of laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of speech-language pathology and audiology.
  2. Mock Board Proceedings. Describe elements of the disciplinary process and application to the professions through participation in a mock hearings.
  3. Engage in the process utilized in examining ethics violations as well as reporting to the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB).

Friday & Saturday Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the impact that COVID-19 has on speech-language pathology and audiology licensure boards.
  2. Describe the next steps in the activation of the ASLP-IC, and summarize legislative experiences of two states.
  3. List 3 potential components of the FDA's anticipated regulations for over-the-counter hearing aids.
  4. Define the role of the regulatory board member.
  5. List 2 ways states responded to COVID that impacted practice of SLPs and Audiologists.
  6. Describe changes to ETS and AAA and ASHA certifications.
  7. Describe at least one area where assistants must be trained in ethical practice and 2 considerations for states that regulate (or who are thinking of regulating) assistants.
  8. List accomplishments and understand accomplishments and challenges experienced by NCSB member states during the past year.
  9. Describe the technology and purposes of clinical simulation.
  10. Define implicit bias and explain the difference between cultural competence and cultural humility.
